Vic Firth Percussion Lessons!!!!

Beginning Snare Video Lessons
Mark Wessels uses excerpts from his popular method book, A Fresh Approach to the Snare Drum to provide a solid foundation for successful drumming skills.

40 Essential Snare Drum Rudiments
Videos and audio play-along files of each of the 40 rudiments, exercises that apply the rudiment to "real world" musical phrases and practice suggestions from the Vic Firth Education Team.

Steve Houghton: Beginner Drumset Lessons
Steve's lesson series for the beginning drumset player covers everything from set-up, to tuning, to playing your first beat! It's an invaluable tool for beginners of all ages!

Speed Note Reading Tutor
Designed to reinforce note-naming and 'key finding' skills, this computer game is a fun way for beginning–intermediate students to get repetitive practice, while trying to 'beat the clock' and score as many points as possible.

Jeff Queen: Playing with Sticks
Stick tricks are cool, but most of us drop the stick so many times that we are afraid to try them in front of anyone! Check out this lesson series from Jeff for valuable information on solo construction and stick trick ideas!

USE A METRONOME! - IT’S FREE ONLINE!
Want to make your practice time more effective? Practice with a metronome. A metronome is a device that can be set to make a clicking sound at different rates of speed used to set the tempo for playing a musical piece. For example, if you set the metronome to 60, you will hear 60 clicks (beats) in every minute. If you set the metronome to 120, you will hear 120 clicks (beats) in every minute. So a setting of 120 is twice as fast as a setting of 60. The higher the number, the faster the tempo.
Click on this link for a FREE online metronome to use with every practice session! Remember, you should always practice in a place that is free from distractions, so no "instant messaging" while using your online metronome!
